Fisheries and Livestock Minister announced a program to sell fish, meat, egg, and milk at affordable prices a week before Ramadan for low-income people. The initiative will begin before Ramadan and continue in slum areas, aiming to provide subsidies for these products to low-income individuals. The government is concerned about rising prices and plans to investigate the reasons behind the affordability challenges.
The minister highlighted that Bangladesh is self-sufficient in fish and livestock, reducing dependence on imports and decreasing border killings. He emphasized the need for continued efforts in the dairy sector. The ban on catching mother hilsa and jatka has proven beneficial, and the minister plans to request increased incentives for fishermen to extend the fishing ban period.
