Grameenphone has reported a profit after taxes of Tk. 1,194 crore for the April-June quarter, representing a nearly 30% increase compared to the same period last year. The company’s operating profits saw a slight decline due to higher costs, except for material and traffic charges, salaries and personnel costs, and operations and maintenance. However, a reversal in income tax provision helped boost the net profits.

The earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter rose to Tk. 8.84 from Tk. 6.82, and for the first six months of the year, the EPS increased to Tk. 14.62 from Tk. 12.82. The company’s net asset value per share stood at Tk. 39.34 at the end of June. Grameenphone’s revenue for the second quarter grew by 6% to Tk. 4,000 crore, contributing to an overall profit rise of 14% to Tk. 1,973 crore in the January to June period. The total revenue for the first half of the year increased by nearly 3% to Tk. 7,735 crore year-on-year.
