The High Court has directed Grameen Kalyan (GK) to pay Tk 6.66 billion in income tax for the assessment years 2012–2013 through 2016–2017. This amount was first asserted by the tax office in 2017, which GK disputed. The High Court has now decided in favor of the tax authorities following a protracted legal struggle. GK is free to suggest a payment schedule, either in whole or in smaller amounts. The conditions of payment will be decided by the court if GK is unable to present a workable plan.
