Telecom giants Grameenphone, Robi, and Teletalk received unified licences from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), streamlining their operations and allowing them to offer a wide range of services, including 5G and future technologies.
The licences, amalgamating previous ones for 2G, 3G, and 4G, come with an annual fee of Tk 10 crore and are valid for 15 years. The handover ceremony, presided over by the state minister for telecom and ICT, was attended by BTRC Chairman and other senior officials.
Robi Axiata Ltd’s chief corporate and regulatory officer expressed appreciation for the unified licensing regime, emphasizing its role in fostering technology-neutral services. Grameenphone’s CEO hailed the licences as a transformative step, enabling Bangladesh’s digital evolution and supporting the Smart Bangladesh vision.
