The High Court has reversed its previous order to seize the Liberia-flagged ship, “MV Panagia Kanala,” carrying coal from Indonesia for the Rampal Power Plant in Bagerhat. With this decision, there are no legal restrictions on unloading the coal from the ship. The court, citing national interest, withdrew the order and instructed the authorities to send a copy to the Mongla port authorities. Both parties involved are expected to file a settlement application in court. Earlier, the High Court issued a detention order against the ship based on a case filed by CCX Shipping Co Limited, a Chinese company, seeking payment security. The Mongla Sea Port Authority was also directed to refrain from issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the vessel until further notice.
