High Electricity Costs Drive Demand for Rooftop Solar Systems

Industry: Energy & Power, Power

Industrial owners are grappling with the high cost of electricity, which is primarily generated from the grid and diesel generators. To address this challenge, there is a growing demand for the installation of rooftop solar systems in many factories. Consequently, industry stakeholders are urging the government to introduce favourable policies to expedite the adoption of rooftop solar energy in Bangladesh.

Despite a significant increase in electricity generation from renewable sources, including rooftop solar, Bangladesh still has a considerable distance to cover to achieve its target of generating 40 % of its energy from green sources by 2041. Industry representatives stress the crucial role of government policy support in attaining this goal.
