Fashion retailer H&M has partnered with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Bangladesh to address climate change and support the country’s sustainable development goals. The collaboration aims to facilitate policy discussions on reducing CO2 emissions, developing climate-responsive energy policies, establishing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and identifying climate-friendly investment opportunities. The initiative will also focus on promoting circularity in the textile industry by addressing post-industrial textile waste and implementing measures for water conservation, reuse, and recycling. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by representatives from H&M and UNDP Bangladesh, emphasizing their commitment to a holistic engagement approach to drive climate action in the apparel industry. This partnership is expected to serve as a model for other stakeholders in Bangladesh’s fashion sector to contribute to sustainable practices.
