A business delegation from India has proposed a Tk 1,500 crore investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector. The investment aims to enhance electricity distribution and transmission among BIMSTEC countries, promote energy trading in Bangladesh, and stimulate growth in renewable energy. The delegation also expressed interest in investing in the health, education, and agriculture sectors. Representatives from 85 Indian companies are participating in a business conference, fostering collaboration in energy generation, transmission, and financing. Bangladesh’s goal is to achieve 4.1 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, offering substantial opportunities for companies. The energy conclave, scheduled from August 6 to August 8, 2023, will promote collaboration and explore mutual interests among the participating nations, fostering increased trade and investment between the countries.
