Inflation Eases to 9.92% in September

Economic Tag: Inflation

Bangladesh’s inflation eased for the second consecutive month in September, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) falling to 9.92% from 10.49% in August, driven by a cooling of both food and non-food prices, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). Food inflation dropped to 10.4%, while non-food inflation eased to 9.5%. Despite this, inflation remains near 10%, and the central bank may continue its contractionary policies, having recently raised the repo rate to 9.50%. However, supply chain disruptions from floods and political unrest may still affect future inflation trends.
