The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a positive opening with a significant increase in turnover during the early trading session. The benchmark DSEX index rose by 8 points, reaching a turnover of over Tk 223 crore. Meanwhile, the DSE Shariah index slightly declined by 0.8 points, while the DS-30 blue-chip index witnessed a gain of 1.88 points.
Among the traded stocks, 83 advanced, 66 declined, and 71 remained unchanged. Notably, insurance stocks dominated the market, with Republic Insurance leading as the top gainer with a remarkable 9.97% increase to Tk45.2 per share. Desh General Insurance and Karnaphuli Insurance also posted substantial gains of 9.97% each, reaching Tk38.6 per share.
This positive performance in the Dhaka bourse suggests investor confidence, particularly in the insurance sector, as reflected in the significant gains made by insurance companies. The rise in turnover indicates heightened trading activity and interest in the market, possibly driven by favorable market sentiment and economic conditions.
