Bangladesh’s investment-to-GDP ratio has stagnated at 30.98% in the current fiscal year, barely up from last year’s 30.95%, according to provisional estimates by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). This stagnation marks a decline from previous years, with the ratio at 32.05% in FY22 and 31.02% in FY21. The government’s target of 8.51% GDP growth by the end of the 8th Five-Year Plan, concluding on June 30 next year, seems increasingly unrealistic. Achieving this growth requires raising gross investment to 36.59% of GDP by FY25, a goal that current investment trends fail to support.
