Following China’s ban on Japanese marine products, Japan Delica Co. is planning to establish a scallop processing facility in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, with the intention of exporting to the US and EU markets. The company, which has operated a crab processing plant in Cox’s Bazar since 2018, has recently acquired a new plant set to commence operations in October 2024. This new facility will employ 500 workers and aims to achieve annual sales of Â¥8 billion within three years. The plant is expected to process up to 1,000 tons of scallops per month, with approximately 200 tons being exported to the EU, US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
