JU and ICT Division Signs MoU

The Institute of Information Technology (IIT) at Jahangirnagar University (JU) in Bangladesh has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) of the government. The MoU, signed by Director General Mustafa Kamal of the ICT Division and JU Treasurer, aims to enhance the skill development of university students.

This collaboration includes conducting joint research, organizing workshops on information and communication technology (ICT) and freelancing, and offering internship programs. The partnership is expected to contribute to the transformation of JU into a smart campus. The secretary of the ICT Division emphasized the importance of creating a mindset of not just seeking jobs but also providing jobs, highlighting the need for skilled manpower to diversify the economy. JU’s Vice Chancellor expressed optimism about the opportunities this MoU will create for students’ careers.

The satellite, with a lifespan extending to 2033, was expected to generate Tk 2.5-3.0 billion annually, but it only earned Tk 1.70 billion in FY 2023 and incurred operating costs of Tk 606.02 million.
