LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL) has recently launched a significant initiative titled “Rain Water Harvesting for Safe Drinking Water for the Community” near its Chhatak plant in Sunamganj.
The community in Chhatak has long grappled with the challenge of accessing safe drinking water, often resorting to unsafe sources leading to waterborne diseases. LHBL’s CEOÂ inaugurated the project, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating a positive social impact. The initiative involves the installation of ten rainwater harvesting facilities, benefiting at least 50 families year-round in a region experiencing heavy rainfall for six to seven months annually. The water reservoirs, equipped with efficient filtering systems, can collectively store 260,000 liters of safe drinking water, addressing a pressing need in the community.
