A major export fraud involving Loopdot Fashion Limited in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, has been exposed, with 225 consignments of garments falsely exported, totaling $6.8 million or 75 million taka. The fraud was revealed during the seizure of two consignments, prompting customs authorities to conduct a 100% manual inspection, exposing discrepancies in declared and actual garment quantities.
The company’s CEO, MA Masood, denied involvement, asserting that 19 C&F companies exported using Loopdot’s name and falsifying documents. Despite the denial, customs officials noted the automatic sending of 450 to 675 SMS alerts during each consignment, highlighting the extent of the fraudulent exports. An investigation is underway, potentially leading to legal actions under the Customs Act, Money Laundering, and Criminal Law.
