Despite a month-long political turmoil in the country, several international apparel brands have increased their orders of ready-made garments (RMG) from Bangladesh. Major brands like US Polo and GAP have ramped up their orders, and a new entrant, Korean brand BYC, has also joined the country’s RMG sector.
Industry insiders report that brands from the Americas, Europe, and East Asia have increased their orders, attributing this trend to the strong brand image of Dr. Yunus, who assumed leadership during a challenging period for the country.
The numbers also show a positive trend. The Managing Director of Giant Group mentioned that 40% of their production capacity is now dedicated to fulfilling increased orders from US Polo. When asked about handling the current surge in orders, a prominent exporter, Masco Group, stated that they typically manage 10 to 15 lakh garment pieces every month and are well-prepared to meet the increased demand.
