India lifts onion export ban, setting Minimum Export Price (MEP) at $550 per tonne. The decision comes amid Lok Sabha elections, particularly in Maharashtra. The ban, imposed in December, exempted Bangladesh and five other countries until 31 March 2024. Earlier, India imposed a minimum export price of $800 per tonne and a 40% duty on onion exports until 31 December 2023 to curb soaring prices.
