Minhar Sea Foods has defaulted on loans and shut down its operations due to a decline in shrimp production. Established in 1978, the company expanded its business to over 20 countries, but it faced challenges when shrimp availability declined, forcing closure four years ago. ONE Bank has filed a case seeking approximately Tk178 crore against Minhar Seafoods Limited, Minhar Fisheries Limited, and Minhar Marine Foods Limited. The loan default includes Tk79.17 crore, Tk45.96 crore, and Tk22.25 crore, respectively. In addition, three check dishonor cases have been filed. The decline in seafood exports, coupled with increased production costs, contributed to Minhar’s financial struggles.
