Industry: Telecom & Mobile

In May, Bangladesh saw a significant rise in mobile phone subscriptions, reaching 19.51 crore from 19.37 crore in April. All four major operators experienced growth, with Grameenphone leading at 8.49 crore subscribers, followed by Robi Axiata at 5.89 crore, and Banglalink at 4.47 crore. State-owned Teletalk also added 20,000 new subscribers, totaling 65.7 lakh. The country’s mobile internet users increased to over 12.78 crore, up from 12.52 crore in April, while fixed broadband users remained stable at 1.34 crore. Despite these gains, a substantial portion of the population, over 40%, remains unconnected.
