The adoption of modern technologies has significantly boosted the confidence of grassroots farmers in the Rajshahi region, resulting in increased crop production, soil health preservation, and reduced production costs. Demand-driven services, including Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), devices, and apps, are being efficiently delivered to farmers’ doorsteps.
One notable example is the ‘Khamari App,’ which has enabled farmers to practice balanced fertilization, saving money in fertilizer costs each season and increasing crop yield. Additionally, two young entrepreneurs have embraced digital farming, leasing 12 bighas of land for high-value fruit and crop farming, guided by local agriculture officers.
The government’s efforts through FIACs, utilizing various communication channels, have empowered farmers with essential agricultural knowledge and technology. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to advancing agriculture through technology, enhancing self-sufficiency, and addressing climate change challenges.
