The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has reduced the source tax on imported fresh fruits from 10% to 5%, as per a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) issued by the Income Tax Wing on Thursday. The tax applies to fresh or dried oranges, citrus fruits, grapes, lemons, apples, and pears. Previously, on January 9, NBR increased the supplementary duty on fresh fruit imports by 10%. Currently, fruit imports face multiple taxes, including 25% customs duty, 20% regulatory duty, 30% supplementary duty, 5% advance tax, 15% VAT, and now a reduced 5% source tax.
