The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has ordered banks to freeze the accounts of Sharif Zahir, Managing Director of Ananta Group and Chairman of United Commercial Bank, along with those of his family members. This includes his mother, Qamrun Nahar Zahir, and his brother, Asif Zahir, both involved in Ananta Group. The NBR’s Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) issued the directive on December 1, blocking withdrawals and transfers. Sharif Zahir expressed frustration, stating no specific reason was given for the action, which he believes is an attempt to harass him. He emphasized the negative impact on their businesses, which employ around 32,000 people.
