The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed Clearing and Forwarding Agents (C&F Agents) to submit their details to customs authorities by November 15, 2023, to combat money laundering through false import-export declarations. The NBR aims to enter this information into the ASYCUDA WORLD System, enabling customs authorities to easily identify C&F agents. This initiative aims to curb the use of fake bills of entry and bills of export in imports and exports. The move comes in response to recent incidents of C&F agents involved in smuggling money under the guise of exports. With over 20,000 importers and exporters and approximately 10,000 registered C&F agents in the country, this action seeks to enhance transparency and mitigate fraudulent activities in the import-export sector.
