The LTU of NBR has reported a 26% increase in revenue collection, rising from BDT 58,566 crore in FY23 to BDT 73,660 crore in FY24. The LTU’s Additional Commissioner attributes this growth to internal audit systems, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, and substantial tax contributions from cigarette companies and Petrobangla following a recent tariff hike. He also praised recent government policy changes affecting cigarette companies. Of the BDT 73,660 crore collected, BDT 35,515 crore came from cigarette companies, with BAT alone contributing BDT 33,215 crore. Telecommunications provided BDT 10,000 crore, and Petrobangla contributed BDT 9,622 crore.
