Electronic fund transfers in Bangladesh will shift to the Nikash-BEFTN software under the Bangladesh Automated Clearing House (BACH), replacing the Bangladesh Electronic Funds Transfer Network (BEFTN), Effective November 12, 2023. The transactions, conducted in local currency, will occur in three sessions: 12 am to 11:59 am, 12 pm to 2:59 pm, and 3 pm to 11:59 pm. The central bank emphasizes the separation of credit and debit transactions, requiring the return process within the next two sessions of an EFT settlement. The BEFTN, launched in 2011, has been pivotal in enabling paperless electronic inter-bank fund transfers and handling a wide range of transactions, including government salary and social benefits.
