A sponsor of NRB Commercial Bank, has expressed his intention to divest 96% of his holdings in the bank as soon as they become tradable after the conclusion of the lock-in period. He plans to sell 4.49 crore out of his total 4.7 crore shares at the current market price, given that the lock-in period, which restricts the sale or withdrawal of invested amounts, expired in 2023.
The bank recently disclosed this information on the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s website. At the time of the disclosure, the company’s shares were trading at Tk 16.80, indicating that he would receive Tk 75 crore from the sale of his shares. The reason for his decision to sell his shares remains unclear, as the bank’s company secretary did not respond to inquiries. It was also confirmed that he resides abroad.
