Economic Tag: Income

Bangladesh’s per capita income has risen to Tk 29,367 in 2022-23, despite a drop of $28 in US dollar value to $2,765 from the previous year’s $2,793. The provisional projection of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) estimated that the per capita income would increase from Tk 241,047 to Tk 270,414 in 2022-23. The depreciation of the local currency resulted in the rise of per capita income in Bangladeshi taka. The taka has depreciated 24% to Tk 107.8 in the last year, according to the Bangladesh Bank. The rise in per capita income in Bangladeshi taka is good news for the people of Bangladesh, but the drop in US dollar value could be a cause of concern for the country’s economy.
