A Bangladesh Bank report, “Inflation Dynamics in Bangladesh, July-September 2024,” reveals that the impact of perishable goods on inflation rose significantly, from 18% in the June quarter to 23% in the September quarter, while the effect of import-focused items dropped from 39% to 26%. Rental housing costs also began to contribute notably from August, accounting for 26% of inflation by September. Non-food inflationary pressures from health and personal care remained steady at 17%. Meanwhile, the contribution of non-perishable goods to headline inflation declined from 70% in June to 52% in September.
