Petrobangla plans to issue an open tender next week to establish a new list of international LNG suppliers, aiming for greater transparency in its LNG procurement process. This move, aligned with the Public Procurement Rule 2008, follows the suspension of prior expedited procurement rules. The updated list is expected to attract a broader pool of suppliers, potentially lowering LNG costs for Bangladesh. Currently, Bangladesh faces a gas shortage, importing 1,100 MMCFD of gas, of which 150-200 MMCFD is sourced from the spot market.
