PHP Family, a leading industrial group, has advanced Bangladesh’s solar energy sector by installing 1,740-kilowatt solar panels on the roofs of its textile and steel mills in Sitakunda, Chattogram. Chairman Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the initiative at the Kumira factory, aiming to generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by 1,100 tons. The solar power will support factory operations, cutting external electricity consumption. Renewable energy expert Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury praised the environmentally friendly move. Executive Director Shafiqur Rahman Khan noted plans to expand solar installations across other company facilities to meet more of PHP’s energy needs sustainably.
