A Chattogram-based automobile company has partnered with a leading Malaysian brand to assemble and sell cars in Bangladesh. They are set to launch four models – Perodua ARUZ (1500cc SUV), Perodua Bezza (1329cc sedan), Perodua MYVI (1500cc hatchback), and Perodua AXIA (1000cc hatchback) in Dhaka, with a subsequent launch in Chattogram. PHP Motors terminated its agreement with Proton and signed with Perodua to bring six models to Bangladesh. They will initially assemble four models and expand later. Perodua holds a 60% market share in Malaysia and is known for Japanese technology. PHP Motors employs 400 people and can assemble 36 cars daily. Their factory, operational since 2017 with a Tk400 crore investment, aims to capture a significant market share. While they aspire to manufacture cars locally, challenges remain due to low demand and the need for stakeholder support.
