Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh has urged Brazil to consider directly importing Readymade Garment (RMG) products from Bangladesh. During a meeting with a delegation from Brazil led by its Foreign Minister, Prime Minister Hasina highlighted the potential benefits of such direct imports, stating that it would make RMG products more affordable for Brazil.
Currently, RMG goods from Bangladesh are exported to Brazil on a limited scale through third-party channels. Prime Minister Hasina emphasized that direct imports would streamline the process and contribute to enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries.
In addition to RMG products, Prime Minister Hasina suggested that Brazil could also import other goods from Bangladesh, such as jute and jute goods, and leather items. She emphasized the importance of achieving a balanced trade relationship between Bangladesh and Brazil, noting that the current trade balance is heavily tilted in favour of Brazil.
