QatarEnergy, the world’s top LNG exporter, will enter into a long-term agreement with Bangladesh’s state-owned gas company, Petrobangla, for the supply of 2 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually. The 15-year deal, set to be signed on June 1, marks QatarEnergy’s second Asian sales agreement for its North Field expansion project. The supplies are scheduled to commence in January 2026. With Asia’s demand for long-term LNG agreements, Qatar’s production expansion project has gained traction in the region. For Bangladesh, this deal offers a second opportunity to secure long-term LNG at a more affordable rate, following price spikes after the Ukraine war. QatarEnergy’s North Field expansion project aims to increase liquefaction capacity to 126 million tonnes per year by 2027, supporting global gas supply.
