Indian telecom company RailTel is looking to expand its presence into Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, aiming to cover the entire Indian subcontinent. RailTel, which is currently connected to Bhutan through Siliguri, West Bengal, is working on providing alternative connectivity routes to address constraints with the existing path. The company is preparing a techno-commercial offer for these projects by the end of the month.

In Bangladesh, RailTel is interested in executing several signalling projects. The Economic Times of India reports that the company aims to enhance its international bandwidth connectivity in Bhutan, with potential projects also in Sri Lanka. These proposals will be reviewed by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs before proceeding.

RailTel also plans to extend its UIDAI-based services to neighbouring countries, though these services may be implemented using open-source platforms rather than their current form in India.
