Rainfall in various parts of the country has led to a decrease in load-shedding and electricity demand in Bangladesh. The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh reported a significant reduction in load-shedding during the first hour of 12 June 2023, with a demand of 12,900MW and a supply of 11,604MW. The decrease in load-shedding is attributed to the impact of rain, which has eased the strain on the power grid and allowed for a more balanced supply of electricity. The improved situation has resolved most of the demand-supply gap in the distribution system, with any remaining shortages attributed to technical limitations of power plants. The rainfall also brought a drop in temperatures across the country. Efforts are being made to increase power generation starting from June 20, and coal supplies for power plants have resumed, bringing relief to the energy sector.
