Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has achieved a significant milestone by recording a net profit of Taka 2.98 crore during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, marking a turnaround from continuous losses over its 37-year history. Managing Director Niranjan Chandra Debnath highlighted improvements in financial indicators, including a reduction in loss-making branches to 12 from 60 the previous year. Deposit and debit balances also saw increases, reaching Taka 7,180 crore and Taka 7,837 crore respectively. Classified loans decreased to Taka 1,242 crore, lowering the classified loan ratio to 16%. RAKUB has enhanced service delivery through digital initiatives like smart banking, online services, and mobile app integration, enabling clients to conduct transactions and open accounts from home. Operating through 383 branches across northwest Bangladesh, RAKUB supports agriculture and agro-based industries, aiming for broader economic impact in the region.
