Farmers in the Rangpur agriculture region have achieved an outstanding milestone by producing a record-breaking 2,240,429 tonnes of clean Boro paddy this season. With the government’s multi-dimensional support, farmers surpassed the production target of 2,230,219 tonnes, demonstrating their resilience in the face of global crises. The success can be attributed to various measures implemented by the government, including incentives, promotion of high-yielding and hybrid varieties, efficient supply of fertilizers and electricity, adoption of modern technologies, and effective agronomic management. Despite a slight shortfall in the fixed farming target, farmers cultivated 99.90% of the intended land area, utilizing both mainland and low-lying char areas. By embracing conservation agriculture techniques and organic pest management, farmers achieved increased yields while reducing costs. The remarkable growth in paddy production showcases the region’s ability to adapt to climate change challenges. The concerted efforts of farmers and government support have resulted in consecutive years of impressive Boro paddy production.
