Remittance Inflow Tops $2 Billion in Just 28 Days

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $2.11 billion in remittances during the first 28 days of September in the fiscal year 2024-25, with state-owned and specialised banks handling $679.10 million and private banks receiving $1.43 billion, according to Bangladesh Bank data. By 21 September, remittances had already reached $1.63 billion, surpassing the previous year’s September total of $1.33 billion. Bankers expect the remittance figure to exceed $2.2 billion by the end of the month, continuing the steady growth in remittances that has bolstered Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves.
