Bangladesh’s RMG exports to the EU grew 4.86% year-on-year to $19.77 billion in 2024, with export volume rising 10.18% to 1,230.51 million kg, but unit prices fell 5% to $16.07 per kg. The EU’s total apparel imports grew 1.53% in value and 8.98% in volume, leading to a 6.83% drop in average unit prices, affecting major exporters, including Bangladesh. Despite maintaining its position as the EU’s second-largest supplier, Bangladesh faces profitability challenges amid global price declines. Experts stress the need for value addition and market diversification to sustain competitiveness and protect profit margins in 2025 and beyond.
