Robi Axiata Limited is facing scrutiny for not paying income tax on about Tk 811 crore 56 lakh 81 thousand in the fiscal year 2020-21, resulting in a potential tax loss of Tk 365 crore 20 lakh 56 thousand 450. According to an audit report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, the company failed to include non-allowable expenses and unclaimed taxes, such as 10% on dealer commissions and 2% on security services, in its taxable income. The report, published on July 3, highlights discrepancies including unaccounted provisions and missing tax deductions. Despite multiple communications and audit queries, Robi has not provided satisfactory responses or taken corrective actions. The audit deemed these issues serious financial irregularities, yet no conclusive action has been reported.
