The Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer of Robi, has called for a reduction in SIM tax as a means to encourage future investments in telecommunication infrastructure. In response to the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 presented by Finance Minister. He emphasized the need for a decrease in the minimum turnover tax rate imposed on listed telecom companies. The objective of the proposed budget is to establish a Smart Bangladesh, and according to him, reducing the SIM tax would play a significant role in ensuring connectivity for previously unconnected individuals. By lowering the tax burden, telecom companies can allocate more resources to develop and expand the telecommunications network, driving innovation and progress in the industry.
