The state-run Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL) plans to purchase two more spot LNG cargoes for March 09-10 and March 15-16 delivery to meet rising energy demand during Ramadan. This follows the cancellation of two tenders for March 10-11 due to high price quotes and low bidder response. If successful, Bangladesh will secure three spot LNG cargoes for March, with a total target of four cargoes. Each spot cargo will contain approximately 3.36 million British thermal units (MMBTu). The most recent tender for March 05-06 was awarded to Total Energies Gas and Power Limited at $16.43 per MMBTu. The cargoes will be delivered to Moheshkhali island, where they will be regasified at the country’s two floating storage regasification units (FSRUs). Alongside spot purchases, Bangladesh continues to import LNG under long-term contracts from Qatargas and OQ Trading International.
