A 50-tonne bridge crane for the second unit of Bangladesh’s Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) is being shipped from Russia’s Novorossiysk port, following previous deliveries of 16- and 32-tonne electric gantry cranes. Manufactured in Russia, the crane will be used for loading and unloading operations at the site. Specialists from Rosatom Engineering Division and VPO ZAES have inspected the equipment to ensure quality and safety standards. Atomenergoremont, Russia’s top nuclear plant maintenance contractor, is handling the supply. Rooppur, Bangladesh’s first nuclear power plant, is being constructed with Russian technical and financial support and will have two 1,200 MW Generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors. The first unit is preparing for fuel loading and is expected to begin operations soon.
