Russian-flagged MV Margaret has successfully reached Bagerhat’s Mongla Port, carrying a significant cargo of 482.882 tons of machinery destined for the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Ishwardi, Pabna. The machinery comprises various electrical and mechanical components crucial for the functioning of the power plant.
In addition, another vessel named ‘MV Sagarkanta’ has arrived at Payra Port, bringing 37,133 tons of coal intended for the Payra thermal power station. The ship reached the port’s anchorage area last Monday afternoon and was subsequently moved to the Inner Anchorage. The ongoing process involves using lighters to unload the coal.
These recent arrivals mark the fifth shipment of coal following the thermal power plant’s restart, which had experienced a temporary shutdown due to fuel shortages. In total, these five ships have delivered approximately 190,000 tons of coal to sustain operations at the power station.
