Company Intelligence Tag: Regulatory Insights

The Supreme Court has halted a High Court order that stayed the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority’s decision regarding Sonali Life Insurance. The apex court instructed the HC bench to address the issue within two months. The order came following a petition filed by IDRA challenging the HC’s stay order. The HC had stayed IDRA’s decision to suspend Sonali Life Insurance’s board of directors and appoint an administrator for six months. Additionally, the HC issued a rule seeking responses from the relevant parties. IDRA had appointed an administrator, Brig Gen (retd) SM Ferdous, after an audit revealed embezzlement by the company’s former chairman and six family members.
