During the first month, the sale of seasonal fruits in various markets has seen a significant increase, attracting customers from far and wide. However, extreme heat is causing damage to the fruits, hindering the supply. Local fruits, including jackfruit, mandal, native mango, mountain pineapple, bangi, and lychee, are being sold at different prices in markets such as Chandraganj, Bashikpur, Dattapara, Raipur Municipal Town, Ramganj Municipal Town, and others.
Due to the lack of rain, many mangoes have fallen from trees, prompting traders to sell them at lower prices for making amsattva and chutney. The demand for seasonal fruits has grown, but some sellers express concern about market monitoring to ensure the fruits are free from chemicals. In Thakurgaon, a variety of mangoes are available in different markets, and the sale of mangoes has started at higher prices. Different varieties, including Suryapuri and Handibhanga, are in high demand. The district has a target of 5,080 hectares for mango cultivation this year, with mango orchards covering 3,236 hectares of land. The quality of Suryapuri mangoes is well-known, and traders expect to benefit from the high demand.
