The seventh shipment of uranium for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant’s first unit reached Pabna’s Rooppur under high-security measures. The convoy, arriving from the capital, passed through designated routes, including Bangabandhu Bridge, with law enforcement ensuring strict security. Traffic restrictions along the Pabna-Natore-Kushtia highway were implemented for security during transit. The uranium consignment’s arrival follows the formal handover on October 5, 2023 marking Bangladesh’s entry into the global nuclear power producers’ club. The Rooppur project, a collaboration with Russia, signifies a significant step in Bangladesh’s nuclear energy development, ensuring the country’s energy security and diversification of power sources.
