Amid rising inflation, retail chain Shwapno has launched a budget-friendly beef and potato combo that has quickly gained popularity, selling 70,000 packs since its November 1 debut. Priced at Tk 160 for a small pack (200g beef, 100g potatoes) and Tk 300 for a larger pack, this initiative aims to make nutritious meals accessible to middle-class and low-income families struggling with surging food costs. Beef prices in Dhaka have risen to Tk 700–800 per kg, while potatoes reach up to Tk 75 per kg, leaving many unable to afford these staples.
To address inflation-driven challenges, Shwapno has introduced 25 affordable combo meals, including fish-potato and vegetarian options, available across 100 outlets. Sabbir Hasan Nasir, executive director of ACI Logistics, stated that feedback from middle-class families inspired this effort to provide more affordable options. Shwapno plans to expand its selection to over 100 combos within six months, underscoring its commitment to supporting customers amid economic pressures.
