Silatech and Brac Partner to Empower Youth

Silatech has joined forces with Brac, to launch a project aimed at enhancing financial inclusion and providing access to finance for 684,212 youth in Bangladesh. The project, known as “Unlocking Financial Solutions for Youth Enterprise Development,” aims to address the financial challenges faced by young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, including limited access to traditional financing resources. Over the next three years, the initiative will offer financial products tailored to the needs of young entrepreneurs who lack access to traditional banking services. Additionally, it will provide financial literacy and entrepreneurial training programs to improve the sustainability of their ventures. This partnership seeks to bridge the financing gap for SMEs in Bangladesh, particularly those led by women, and create economic opportunities for youth, especially in the wake of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Walton will manufacture the batteries, launching them in approximately seven months with an 80,000-piece annual capacity. Huawei will provide technical support, design expertise, and raw materials. This shift from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries aims to address environmental and efficiency issues.
