The government has launched a road development project in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, aimed at improving connectivity and stimulating economic growth in the area. The project will involve the development of four roads covering approximately 14 kilometers, with the objective of enhancing transportation and communication with five economic zones in the region.
Currently, a narrow 5.5-meter-wide road connects various industrial establishments and tourism centers in the area, causing disruptions. In response to demands from businesses, the road will be widened to 10.3 meters. The project, with a proposed budget of Tk1,148 crore, is set to be completed by June 2025 and is expected to attract significant investment of nearly $4 billion in the five zones, potentially creating over two lakh employment opportunities.
